New Jersey-based National Public Radio affiliate WBGO’s “Toast Of The Nation” New Year’s Eve radio broadcast will be anchored in New Orleans. The show’s hosts will be located in front of the city’s famous music club, Tipitina’s.

“It’s an unprecedented move, but it’s an unprecedented circumstance,” said Becca Pullman, WBGO producer. “ ‘Toast Of The Nation’ wants to express solidarity and hope by broadcasting all night from New Orleans. We will say goodbye to the hardship of 2005 and hello to the tremendous hope we have for 2006.”

Featured performers include pianist Henry Butler, the Chico O’Farrill Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra, singer René Marie, Dizzy Gillespie All-Star Band and Hot 8 Brass Band.
