New Hiromi Uehara Disc Set For March 27

  I

Pianist Hiromi Uehara (who usually just goes by her first name) will release her Time Control (Telarc) on March 27.

The disc features her compositions and regular bandmates—bassist Tony Grey and drummer Martin Valihora—along with guest guitarist David “Fuze” Fiuczynski.

“Tony and Martin are amazing musicians,” Uehara said. “They understand the way I write music and the way I want the music to sound. I wanted to work with Fuze because I was looking for somebody who would be strong enough to influence the band. I dind’t want somebody who could easily fit in.”

“Cerebral and academic thought is a different way to approach music,” Flea says of his continuing dive into jazz. “I’ve always relied on emotion and intuition and physicality.”
