Rochester International Jazz Festival Starts Today

The fifth annual Rochester International Jazz festival in Rochester, N.Y., kicks off tonight with a performance by Woody Allen and his New Orleans Jazz Band.

More than 600 international musicians will appear at the festival, which will run through June 17. Concerts will be held in 13 venues throughout the city and featured performers include James Brown, Phil Woods, Toots Thielemans, Wayne Shorter and Susan Tedeschi.

    Hammond came to the blues through the folk boom of the late 1950s and early 1960s, which he experienced firsthand in New York’s Greenwich Village.
