The San Francisco Jazz Festival opens tonight with Sonny Rollins’ performance at the Masonic Center.
This year’s event features the Joe Zawinul Syndicate, Charles Lloyd, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Maris Monte and the Heath Brothers at venues throughout the city. The festival will close with John Santos’ Machete Ensemble’s final performance on Nov. 12 at the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre.
