Alligator Records To Release New Tinsley Ellis CD

  I

Alligator Records has set a June 26 release date for the new CD from guitarist/vocalist Tinsley Ellis, Moment Of Truth.

Born in Atlanta in 1957, Ellis grew up in southern Florida and first played guitar at age eight. He found the blues through the backdoor of the British Invasion bands like The Yardbirds, The Animals, Cream, and The Rolling Stones. His love for the blues solidified when he was 14 at a B.B. King performance, where sat mesmerized in the front row. When King broke a string onhis guitar, he changed it without missing a beat and handed the broken string to Ellis.

Produced by Ellis, Moment Of Truth will be the first release from Ellis since 2005’s Live—Highwayman.

“Watching people like Max Roach or Elvin Jones and seeing how they utilize the whole drum kit in a very rhythmic and melodic way and how they stretched time — that was a huge inspiration to me,” Hussain said in DownBeat.
