Blue Note will release guitarist & vocalist Lionel Loueke’s Karibu on March 25.
Born in Benin,West Africa, Loueke blends his African roots with a modern jazz concept that he’s developed while performing with Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and Terence Blanchard.
Karibu (Swahili for welcome) features Loueke’s trio of bassist Massimo Biolcati and drummer Ferenc Nemeth with guests Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter on a set including seven Loueke originals, along with versions of “Skylark” and John Coltrane’s “Naima.”
