Dave Brubeck Announces 88th Birthday Plans

Dave Brubeck will celebrate his 88th birthday with a live concert at Showcase Live in Foxborough, Mass. on Dec. 6.

Brubeck will also be among 12 others to be inducted into The California Museum’s California Hall of Fame, including Jane Fonda, Theodor Geisel (Dr. Seuss), Robert Graham, Quincy Jones, Jack LaLanne, Dorthea Lange, Julia Morgan, Jack Nicholson, Linus Pauling, Leland Stanford and Alice Waters.

“I grew up on a California cattle ranch and my dream as a youth was to continue this rather isolated life,” Brubeck said. “Had anyone predicted any one of these honors, I would not have believed it. How could I have even dreamed of such recognition? Such honors were the farthest from my mind when I eventually chose a career in jazz. Receiving these honors in my ‘golden’ years is an overwhelming and humbling experience.”
