George Guntz Celebrates 3/4 Century With Three-Part Tour

George Gruntz, who turns 75 on June 24, is celebrating three-quarters of a century with a three-part European tour. The first leg of the tour recently finished, and Gruntz will hit the road once again on June 25, where the George Gruntz Concert Jazz Band will perform at the Montreux, Lugano and Basle Jazz Festivals through July 10. Basle, Switzerland, is Gruntz’s home town.

The final leg of the tour will be Oct. 25–Nov. 10.

    Hammond came to the blues through the folk boom of the late 1950s and early 1960s, which he experienced firsthand in New York’s Greenwich Village.
