JVC New York Debuts at New York Society for Ethical Culture

Beginning June 17, jazz will take the stage at New York’s Concert Hall at the New York Society for Ethical Culture for nine days of solos, collaborations and tributes as part of the JVC Jazz Festival New York. The festival will feature perfomances by Billy Taylor, Charles Lloyd, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Cecil Taylor, Georges Cables, Ravi Coltrane, Geri Allen, and The Bad Plus 1 with Kurt Rosenwinkel. The event kicks off with Ravi Coltrane’s tribute to his mother, Alice Coltrane, which will also feature Charlie Haden, Jack DeJohnette and Brandee Younger.

The festival will feature jazz trio The Bad Plus 1 performing for the first time ever with a special guest, guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel. Dee Dee Brdigewater will present music from her recent CD Red Earth: A Malian Journey. Concerts will also lend the spotlight to lesser-known groups on the rise, such as Empirical, who make thitseir U.S. debut after recently being named the best jazz band in the United Kingdom.
