Lincoln Center Announces 2008 American Songbook Series

New York’s Lincoln Center will celebrate the 10th season of its American Songbook series beginning in January 2008 and will honor the foundation of this country’s popular music traditions through March.

Singers in the series include Bettye LaVette on Feb. 8, Jimmy Scott on Feb. 22, k.d. lang on Feb. 26–28 and Patti Smith on March 1. On Jan. 25 conductor Rob Fisher will interpret the songs of Leonard Bernstein.

    ​Peplowski first came to prominence in legacy swing bands, including the final iteration of the Benny Goodman Orchestra, before beginning a solo career in the late 1980s.
