Mario Pavone To Release New Disc

Bassist Mario Pavone is releasing his 17th recording as a leader, Deez To Blues (Playscape), on March 21. The disc also features trumpeter Steve Bernstein and includes six new original Pavone compositions.

Pavone has worked in jazz for more than 40 years and has collaborated with such musicians as Paul Bley, Bill Dixon, Anthony Braxton, and Dave Douglas. Along with his role as a bandleader, the bassist is an administrator and board member for the Litchfield Jazz Festival and Litchfield Summer Jazz Music Institute in Litchfield, Conn.
