Matt Wilson Launches Jazz Stimulus Package

Drummer Matt Wilson has said that he will spend the month of April touring the United States to mark Jazz Appreciation Month and to stimulate audiences nationwide.

“We all need to share the moment more with our fellow Americans,” Wilson said. “So, turn off the television and the computer and head out to a jazz concert and appreciate the energy. You’ll have a whole lot of fun and it will reduce your stress level.”

Wilson’s quartet will appear at Zorba’s in Champaign, Ill., on April 2, Chicago’s Green Mill on April 3 and 4, Black Cat Theater in St. Louis, Mo., on April 5 and at the University of Missouri in Columbia April 7–9. In addition, Wilson’s Arts and Crafts will appear on National Public Radio’s “Jazz Set” from April 9 through 15 and California State University at Fullerton on April 18 and State University of New York, Oswego, on April 29 and 20.

Wilson’s new quartet disc, That’s Gonna Leave A Mark (Palmetto) will be released in July.
