Mel Martin Honors Benny Carter at Jazz at Lincoln Center

Saxophonist Mel Martin will pay tribute to Benny Carter through a tribute concert at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center (JALC) on Oct. 15. The New York performance will also feature pianist Don Friedman, saxophonists Jerry Dodgion, Andrew Speight and Craig Handy, bassist Steve LaSpina, dummer Victor Lewis and vocalist Jackie Ryan.

Carter will also be inducted into the Nesuhi Ertegun Jazz Hall of Fame at JALC on Oct. 19 and the JALC Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis will perform Carter’s music in Rose Hall on Oct. 19 and 20. Ed Berger will provide a pre-concert lecture each evening.
