Prestige To Release Coltrane Box Set

  I

Prestige has announced the Sept. 18 release of a 5-disc set containing early collaborative recordings of saxophonist John Coltrane.

Interplay catalogues a series of sessions from 1956-‘58, all of which were released without any specified leader. The set contains seven complete albums and three tracks from two others, and it features a host of jazz greats playing alongside Coltrane in various jam-like settings.

The collection follows last year’s release of Fearless Leader, a 6-CD roundup of Coltrane’s Prestige recordings as a leader.
