The 24th annual San Francisco Jazz Festival has announced its dates and complete lineup.
Beginning on Oct. 17 and running through Nov. 12, the event will feature Sonny Rollins, Marisa Monte, the Heath Brothers, Charles Lloyd and Alice Coltrane. This year’s pre-festival concert on Sept. 23 is Planet Drum with Mickey Hart, Zakir Hussain, Sikiru Adepoju and Giovanni Hidalgo.

Hammond came to the blues through the folk boom of the late 1950s and early 1960s, which he experienced firsthand in New York’s Greenwich Village.
