WBGO in Newark, N.J., and NPR Music will webcast and broadcast a concert series from the New York jazz club Village Vanguard. The “Live At The Village Vanguard” series begins June 11 and will offer monthly concerts for live, free streaming at WBGO.org. Concerts in the series will be broadcast live NPR Music. Guillermo Klein y Los Guachos will open the series.

NPR and the VIllage Vanguard seek to heighten the jazz experience through multi-platform media. “Social media platforms give us the opportunity to build on our foundation, to find and create new fans, and to reach out to people with a real-time connection to music made in the moment,” said WBGO Special Projects Producer Josh Jackson. In addition to hosting performances, Jackson will be blogging and web-chatting during the concerts in real time from inside the club. WBGO will also create an online photo gallery of live photographs from the concerts that visitors can access through Flickr.
