Jazz Standard Plans Week-Long Tribute To Louis Armstrong

The Jazz Standard club in New York City, 116 E. 27th St., is planning a week-long tribute to Louis Armstrong, July 2-7, titled “Struttin’ With Some Barbecue - Birthday Tribute to Louis Armstrong & USA.” July 4 was the birthday that Pops gave himself.

The shows will feature four of the scene’s hottest young trumpeters. Schedules to appear are:

July 2: Marcus Printup
July 3: Terell Stafford
July 5: Jeremy Pelt
July 6-7: Brian Lynch

The club will be closed on July 4. Set timed are 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., with 11:30 p.m. sets on Fridays and Saturdays. Cover varies per night.
