Latin Licks From Lincoln Center

  I

The second release from the Jazz at the Lincoln Center’s series of live performances is available on Palmetto Records. The album, Una Noche Inolvidable (An Unforgettable Night) is a recording of the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra (ALJO) with leader Arturo O’Farrill, during a Jan. 28, 2005, concert at the Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall.

The CD features guest vocalists Herman Olivera and Claudia Acuna performing Latin inspired jazz tunes with the 18-piece orchestra.

The ALJO has a series of touring dates scheduled to support the live album. Beginning July 5 the orchestra will take off for a cross country tour, playing selections from Una Noche Inolvidable from Eugene, Ore., to Mount Vernon, N.Y. The tour culminates with a return trip to the Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall on Jan. 28, 2006.

The ALJO has been Jazz at Lincoln Center’s resident Latin orchestra since 2002 and it has toured extensively in the U.S. and abroad, bringing its Latin inspired sound to such far-flung locales as China.
