Radio Hall of Fame Tabs Marian McPartland

Pianist Marian McPartland will be inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in Novemeber, officials have announced.

Host of “Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz” for more than 25 years on National Public Radio, McPartland taught herself how to play piano at age three. Since 1978, the English-born jazz musician has hosted one of the longest running weekly programs on NPR. McPartland is revered for her own talent and welcomes a wide range of guests to her program, including legendary jazz artists and fledgling jazz talents.

Other inductees include baseball announcer Jerry Coleman, late radio comedian Jimmy Durante, late radio producer Richard Durham and rock disc jockey Dan Ingram.

A nationally broadcast ceremony will take place Nov. 3 in Chicago. Tickets for the black-tie induction gala may be purchased online at radiohof.org or by calling (866) 860-1640.
