Amongst The People: Live at The House Of Tribes, the new live album from trumpeter Wynton Marsalis is scheduled for release on Aug. 30,2005, from Blue Note Records. The album was recorded live during an intimate performance at The House Of Tribes on Manhattan’s Lower East Side on Dec. 15, 2002. It features a swinging set list, with Thelonious Monk and Charlie Parker tunes showing up on the six song set. Marsalis is joined by Wess Anderson on alto sax, Eric Lewis on piano, Kengo Nakamura on bass and Joe Farnsworth on drums.

This is Marsalis’ first live release since his 1999 box set, Live At The Village Vangaurd. Marsalis said that getting back to live music is refreshing, especially at the intimate House of Tribes. “Playing at The House of Tribes is like being at home, back in that environment of pure dedication, the kind of feeling that makes you want to become and artist,” he said.
